German Number Formatting

Germany uses periods for thousands separators: 1.000 = one thousand.

Germany uses commas for decimals: 1,5 = one and a half (spoken: eins Komma fünf).

This is the OPPOSITE of English — take care when reading prices and measurements.

Das Haus kostetzweihundertfünfzigtausendEuro.
ENThe house costs €250,000.

💡 Large numbers are written as one word: 365 = dreihundertfünfundsechzig. German has no 'and' between hundreds and the rest — unlike British English.
