Charaktereigenschaften — Character Traits
Being able to describe personality is essential for conversations, job applications, and the Goethe A2 exam. Learn positive and negative traits, and how to use them naturally.
Positive Eigenschaften — Positive Traits
Negative Eigenschaften — Negative Traits
💡 Many negative traits are formed by adding 'un-' prefix: freundlich → unfreundlich, geduldig → ungeduldig, ehrlich → unehrlich.
Eigenschaften beschreiben — Describing Traits
After 'sein' (to be), adjectives have NO ending
Ich bin freundlich (NOT freundliche)
Er ist zuverlässig (NOT zuverlässiger)
Sie sind fleißig (NOT fleißige)
This is called the PREDICATE ADJECTIVE — it comes after the verb
Jemanden beschreiben — Describing Someone
Notice: When the adjective comes BEFORE the noun, it needs an ending. We'll cover adjective endings fully in Module 3.
